Spectrex Flame Simulators

Testing a flame detector is important to check the sensitivity of the sensors, internal electronics, and the outputs to the fire panel in the control room. All high-quality detectors have built in test sequences to check the internal electronics, but none are testing the sensitivity of the sensors and the alarm outputs to the panels.

Testing the sensors sensitivity and alarm outputs can be done in two ways. One is by creating an actual controlled fire in front of the detector, but as this is most of the time not possible, the manufactures have created an explosion proof testing device, the flame simulator.

A flame simulator is designed to activate the flame detector sensors and trigger the detector by simulating a real fire. Because all detectors have their own spectral response, each manufacturer has their own specific simulators.

Spectrex offers three type of simulators that can be used to test the complete range of current and older models of Spectrex. All Spectrex simulators are Atex zone 1 approved and can therefore be used in the same hazardous area as the flame detectors them selves.

FS-1100

The Spectrex FS-1100 flame simulator is designed to trigger all single and triple IR devices from Spectrex. Depending on the sensitivity settings and model configuration of the detector this can be done up to a distance from 12 meters away from the detector.

FS-1200

The Spectrex FS-1200 flame simulator is designed to trigger all UV/IR models of Spectrex. Depending on the sensitivity settings and model configuration of the flame detector this simulator works up to 7 meters away from the detector.

FS-1400

The Spectrex FS-1400 flame simulator is designed to trigger all IR3 + Hydrogen models of Spectrex. Depending on the sensitivity settings and model configuration of the flame detector this simulator works up to 12 meters away from the detector.

Desu Universal simulator

The non-Atex Desu universal simulator is the only unit in the world capable of alarming all flame detector technologies on the market. This unit makes it possible to test all devices and technologies installed, regardless of brand or model.
